BANDS ARE RE-STARTING ON THE 1ST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH. THE FIRST GIG IS FRIDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER, FEATURING ZEPFREECREAM

The Daisy Hill pub, at Heugh Edge, near Sacriston, Durham, puts live bands on monthly, every 1st Friday night. The pub is owned by Kevin Willis who is very keen to promote live music at this venue.

A good musical cross-section of bands are booked, suiting most musical tastes. Music ranges from hard rock, blues rock, r'n'b, to rock'n'roll, 60s to present day.

Bands usually start at 9pm, playing two 45 minute sets. Only a minimum cover charge is asked for (usually £1). A major change is a late bar licence for the concert room, enabling customers to obtain a drink whilst the band are in the latter stage of the 2nd half performance.

Bands to have played here include Tubesnake, The Whole Hog, The Poorboys, 101, FM, Gerry Gillard, Floyd 2, Fizzyfish, The Poor Boys, Acoustic Beatles, Kimera, Messenger, Skinflint, The Note, Beer Monkeys, Uncle Gilbert, Beckett, Happy Cats, The Force, Feed the Bear, The Revolutionaires, The Kicks, Fishburn Mafia ....to name but a few.

The venue (previously a working men's club) is able to offer a substantial, large music room with bar, large stage with basic lighting & dressing room.

A good sized, well ordered, appreciative & discerning regular crowd has steadily built up and bands will be assured of a warm reception.

The venue can hold up to 120 seated, usually averaging 60-70. There is no similar live music venue in this area of Durham.

Band rehearsal facilities are also available at a very reasonable charge, just ring the pub to enquire about availability. A number of well known local bands rehearse here regularly, including The Suspects, Zep-Free-Cream, The Whole Hog.

The music room is also available for hire at very reasonable rates.

This is John (below), who has done so much to put The Daisy Hill well and truly on the music map over the last 6-7 years. He stepped down at the end of 2008 from promoting the bands, but he will be hosting the bands once again from September.
