went to the daisy hill with my boyfriend - himself a musician and watched a band called soul rebels - what a pity that it was a poor turnout to see this band , i,m told their singer is awesome..i thoroughly enjoyed the night and the soul music was excellent , took me back to my youth , would definately go to see them again , the daisy hill definately needs more local support...
Hey John Boy. How good was Rob's band the Whole Hog the other week.... full house as well..Thats what happens when you get GREAT bands...lol.. ahem....speaking of which, ... i was talking to Russ Tippins on Saturday- he (solo) or his band are still interested in playing at the Daisy.......please pretty please book them!!!!!!. i tell you what mate! i was impressed with the band on at the Big Jug on Friday as well,! what did you think? they'd really suit the Daisy. cheers xx The Divine Miss M (who is not trying to influence you in any way whatsoever..l.o.loud...)
Hi, It's Johnny Robbo, singing bloke from the Sugar B's.
Really pleased to see that gigs are back on at The Hill.
We enjoyed every gig there & hope to see you soon.
Sadly, Alex, our sax player is now at university in Bath so no longer with us.
That aside, we're alive & gigging.....Cheers
We all LOVED the re:opening night at The Daisy- friday gone. Great Band (Zepfreecream), quality tunes-especially the Zep ones!!!, appreciative crowd and a terrific atmosphere. its wonderful to be back amongst the familiar and friendly faces at The Daisy Hill. Thank you Kev and John (no the jokes don't get any better) Bowry. can't wait for the next one. Bring on the Dancing Horses....

Hi Dave - understand your views and take on board your points; the decison was taken by the owner at very short notice and he makes the decisions. We wouldn't rule out a return of live music at some point, though. It would be fair to say, however, that many pubs have stopped putting on live music due to the recession/viability reasons. I have experienced this playing in my own band and other bands inform me that gigs are being cut all over on the pub circuit - just check out 'Riffs' to see how many bands are looking for work and the posts re. pubs stopping bands. It's the recession state we are in currenty, sadly.
Can't believe that the Daisy is not economically viable, have been to see bands at the 3 Tuns in Gateshead and the Market Tavern in Ch-le-St both of these pubs do not charge an entrance fee and the crowd numbers are the same as on an average Daisy Hill night. The Daisy does not do it's self any favours in the winter with the cold concert room, and on a number of occasions I have not removed my coat all night and people huddle around radiators for warmth. Why were the punters not told that is was not viable before it closed, I for one would not mind paying a couple of quid to see a band. Disgusted Dave.
